As a new school year begins, let’s join together in prayer for the students, teachers, staff, and leaders who make our local schools a place to learn and grow.

Gospel proclamation
Pray for the good news of Jesus to be shared with students and teachers who do not yet know Him. Ask that followers of Jesus would be bold, gracious, and shining lights in their schools.
“This is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and the one you have sent—Jesus Christ.” John 17:3
“Let your light shine before others so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

Protection
Pray for students, teachers, and staff to be protected in body, mind, and spirit. Ask for health, safety, peace, and protection from every harmful influence or attack.
“In every situation take up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.” Ephesians 6:16
“The Lord is faithful; He will strengthen and guard you from the evil one.” 2 Thessalonians 3:3

Healthy learning environments
Pray that discipline issues would be kept to a minimum and that students would have ears to listen and hearts to obey. For the times discipline is needed, pray that it leads to restoration and transformation.
“You open my ears to listen.” Psalm 40:6
“Help me understand your instruction, and I will obey it and follow it with all my heart.” Psalm 119:34

Truth
Pray that truth would prevail and that students would be able to discern what is true rather than believe what is false. Ask that they would grow in wisdom and freedom.
“You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32
“Jesus told him, ‘I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” John 14:6

Students who are struggling
Pray that students who find school difficult would receive a special measure of grace this semester. Ask God to help them focus, do their best, and be willing to ask for help.
“Encourage one another and build each other up as you are already doing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11

Teachers and staff
Pray for teachers and staff to have the strength, patience, and wisdom needed to serve students well. Ask God to give them a renewed passion for their work and grace to connect with every student, including those who are hard to reach.
“We have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding.” Colossians 1:9
“Make them know the way in which they must walk and what they must do.” Exodus 18:20

Principals
Pray for local principals as they carry significant responsibility. Ask that they would lead with wisdom, integrity, grace, and truth.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” James 1:5
“Be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.” 1 Corinthians 15:58

School boards and superintendents
Pray that school boards and superintendents would have wisdom as they lead our school systems. Ask that they would be people of character who help schools grow stronger academically, socially, athletically, and financially.
“Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a clear conscience, desiring to act honorably in all things.” Hebrews 13:18

Ministries serving students
Pray for churches, CLCs, FCA, NG3, and other ministries that serve students. Ask that they would have the leaders, resources, and opportunities needed to care for young people and share the message of Jesus.
