Welcome + Why We Serve
Welcome to Church at the Grove Volunteer Onboarding — we're so glad you're here. Whether you've followed Jesus for decades or you're brand new, this isn't just another training video. It's the beginning of you stepping into the mission God is writing here.
You're a ministry partner
We don't think of volunteers as "helpers" who fill holes. We see you as a ministry partner — someone joining together with us to help others experience the love of Jesus.
Our mission
Our mission is simple: to reach people far from God and lead them to become followers of Jesus. That comes straight from the words of Jesus, and it isn't only the calling of pastors and staff — it's the mission for every follower of Jesus. Serving is one of the main ways we live it out. So when you serve, you're not just filling a spot on Sunday morning; you're engaging in the mission of the church and saying yes to God's call on your life.
Why we serve
Every week, people walk through our doors carrying real life — marriages under pressure, families feeling overwhelmed, people searching for hope, kids who need safe leaders, students who need someone to believe in them, neighbors who aren't sure God cares. And God uses ordinary people like you and me to make an extraordinary difference. Whether you hold a door, smile at someone, hold a crying baby, run a camera, park a car, or lead a group — you are showing people what God is like.
What we want for you
Hear this clearly: we don't want something from you — we want something for you. Serving is one of the best ways to grow spiritually, build community, and discover how God wired you. When you serve, you find purpose, joy, belonging, and a beautiful, messy, Jesus-centered family. Thank you for saying yes.
“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Mark 10:45
