Disappointment into Doxology
“Who am I, Lord God, and what is my house that you have brought me this far?”
2 Samuel 7:18
David just got told no to his life's dream. So he goes in, sits down in the Lord's presence, and… worships. He doesn't argue, sulk, or storm off. His disappointment becomes doxology.
Watch what David does with a “no”: he sits before God and remembers who God is and how far God has brought him. He doesn't fixate on the one thing he didn't get; he rehearses the countless things he did. Worship isn't denial of the disappointment — it's the decision to lift your eyes above it.
Practice
Is there a disappointment you're carrying right now — a diagnosis, a closed door, a dream that didn't come true? Try what David did. Sit down before the Lord, and instead of leading with your complaint, start naming what's true about God and what he has already done for you. Worship is often the doorway out of bitterness.
Prayer
Father, you know the disappointment I've been holding. I don't want it to harden into resentment. Like David, I sit down before you and remember: you have been faithful, you have brought me this far, and you are good. Turn my disappointment into worship. Who am I, Lord, that you have loved me like this? Amen.
