Healed by His wounds
“He was pierced because of our rebellion, crushed because of our iniquities; punishment for our peace was on him, and we are healed by his wounds. - Isaiah 53:5 (CSB)”
Jesus finds the man again in the temple, and the man goes out and tells people who healed him (John 5:14-15). The story ends with a testimony, and the testimony points to a wounded Savior.
Here is the ground under all seven days. Jesus can heal wounds because Jesus carried wounds. Isaiah said it centuries before the cross: the punishment that brought us peace fell on Him, and by His wounds we are healed. That is not poetry. That is the gospel. The resurrected Christ still had scars in His hands and side, but they were no longer signs of defeat. They were proof of victory.
Practice
Look back over the week. Name the wound you brought into the light, the step you took, and the person you told. Then do what the healed man did and tell somebody what Jesus has done. It does not have to be finished work. "God is healing something in me" is a testimony. Say it to one person today.
Prayer
Jesus, You were wounded so I could be whole. Thank You that You did not stay at a distance from my pain, You carried it. Take my scars and make them something that points people to You. I am Yours, healed and still healing. Amen.
