Multiply there, do not decrease
“Find wives for yourselves, and have sons and daughters... Multiply there; do not decrease.”
Jeremiah 29:6
God tells people in exile to think about grandchildren.
This is an instruction about the future written to people convinced they have none. Having children in Babylon was an act of hope, because it meant handing your faith to a generation who would grow up surrounded by other gods. God says do it anyway. Multiply. Teach them. Send them into a culture that does not share your convictions, and trust Me with them. Notice He does not say survive, hold the line, or keep the remnant small and pure. He says increase.
Practice
You do not have to be a parent to obey this. Every one of us can hand something to someone younger. Today, name one person at least ten years younger than you who could use what you already know. Text them. Ask them to coffee. Start there. Building beyond yourself begins with one name in your phone.
Prayer
Father, it is easy to think about my own faith and stop there. Give me a name today. Show me one person I can invest in, and make me faithful with them even if I never see how the story ends. Amen.
