Devotion
The need nobody in the room was asking about
“Seeing their faith, Jesus told the paralytic, "Son, your sins are forgiven.”
Mark 2:5
They came for legs. Jesus started with sin. And He called the man son.
Everybody in that house had the same expectation: heal him. It's what the friends came for, it's what the crowd wanted to see, and it's almost certainly what the man himself wanted most. Jesus goes somewhere else first. He addresses the need no one mentioned, because paralysis was this man's biggest problem for a lifetime, and sin was his biggest problem for eternity.
Practice
Two honest questions today. First: what have you been asking God to fix, while quietly assuming the deeper work in you isn't the point? Bring that to Him — not as a complaint, but as a real conversation about what you actually need most.
Prayer
Jesus, thank You for calling me son, daughter, Yours — before I had anything to offer You. Forgive me for wanting my circumstances fixed more than I want to be made new. Give me courage to offer people more than help; let me offer them You. Amen.
