Who told you that?
“Then he asked, “Who told you that you were naked? Did you eat from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”
Genesis 3:11
God’s first question is about a voice, not about fruit.
God could have opened with what have you done. He does not. He opens with who told you that.
Practice
Take your sentence and ask God’s question over it. Who told you that? Trace it back as far as you can. A parent. A coach. A spouse. A room you walked out of. Your own voice on your worst day.
Prayer
Lord, You asked them who told them. Ask me. Show me where this sentence started and who handed it to me. I am giving it back to You. Tell me the truth about who I am instead. Amen.
