Success and the Test of the Heart

Nothing tests the heart quite like success. When young David's victories made him a national hero, that very moment exposed two very different hearts — Saul's jealous, insecure pride and David's humble, surrendered faith. In 1 Samuel 18 we see that what we do with our wins (and with other people's wins) reveals who we really are and where our trust lies. The good news: the favor David knew because "the Lord was with him" is now ours in Christ, through the Holy Spirit who lives in everyone who believes.
