Before your group meets
A few reminders
- Keep the remote in your hand. The videos pause for discussion and won’t wait on you.
- Test your TV setup ten minutes before people arrive.Use the “How to Play the Video on Your TV” guide below if you’re not sure how.
- No smart TV or streaming device? The church will buy a Roku and let you borrow it for all four weeks. Reach out to your campus pastor — nobody should miss the video over equipment.
- Don’t print anything yourself.Physical copies of every leader guide and the covenant are printed for you — pick them up on Sunday mornings at the connection desk in the lobby. Everything below is also here if you’d rather have it on your phone.
Every week, every TV
How to Play the Video on Your TV
For anyone who feels shaky about getting a video onto a screen. No shame in using it — this works for all four weeks, not just one.
Every video below is also available on RightNow Media, in addition to YouTube.
Meeting every other week instead of weekly? See your options.
Week 1
Why We Gather
~17–18 min video · ~60 min session
Nathan and Jonah introduce the Believe → Belong → Become → Build pathway and show every person where they stand on it right now. Then it's into Acts 2:42–47 — what the very first church actually did together — and an honest look at why belonging costs you the mask of just showing up. The video pauses your group twice for Bible discussion and hands things back to you for the last 15–20 minutes of the night.
Week 2
All In
~15–17 min video · ~60 min session
The video makes the case for commitment straight from Hebrews 10:19–25 — why real depth only grows in people who keep showing up. Then it sets up why your leader will hand out the Community Group Covenant tonight, and why nobody signs it on the spot. Ends with tonight's next step: take the covenant home, pray over it, and bring it back next week.
Know before you go
The video opens with about five minutes of Jody and Elisabeth Bates sharing their story before the teaching begins. Nothing is wrong with your video if it feels like a slow start — don't skip it. It's the best argument for everything the session asks of your group.
You'll hand out the covenant at the end of the night. Do not let anyone sign it that night. Send it home to pray over and bring it back signed the following week. The leader guide explains why, and it matters more than it sounds like it does.
Week 3
How We Gather
~15–17 min video · ~60 min session
Nathan and Jonah name the rhythm every group will share — Look Back, Look Up, Look Forward — and explain why groups will spend most weeks discussing the weekend sermon together going forward. Then 1 Corinthians 12 makes the case that a healthy group runs on shared roles, not one leader carrying it all — your group will leave the night with everyone naming a part they'll own this semester.
Week 4
Life Together, On Mission
~15–17 min video · ~60 min session
The series finale. From John 13:34–35, the video makes the case for a love the watching world can actually notice — then turns your group outward with a live practice, a plan to serve together, and a challenge to name someone to invite. It closes by casting vision for the next step on the pathway: a Discipleship Group.
